Sometimes I marinade and sometimes I don't depending upon which way my wind blows on any given day. It's kind of a matter of taste, if you will.

Ok, let's now talk marinade if that particular activity floats your boat.

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons or more of Worchestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon of pepper

OPTIONAL but doggone good!

1 can of beer or 12 oz of apple juice from concentrate

Lay out the beef in a shallow pan and pour this mixture all over the brisket and then cover and stick it in the ice box.
Go watch movies, work cattle, roundpen your colts, change the oil a couple of times in your pickup truck, do something for several hours or even overnight. The longer you marinade, the better this works.

When the beef is done marinading and patted dry with some paper towels, and you have lightly slathered the brisket in some good olive oil, then you rub it down with all the spices we mentioned earlier.

Get out the heaviest skillet you have and turn up the heat under that booger until it's hot more than just a tad more than medium high then stick the meat in the hot skillet and sear it so the outside is brown and deliscious and the inside is juicy and tender.

Make sure you have fired up the grill. Now, if you are cooker or grill handicapped, meaning you aint got one of these things and for the life of me I have NO idea why anyone in their right minds would live life without a grill or cooker, why then you can wrap the brisket in tinfoil tighly and put it right there in your kitcken oven at 300 degrees for about 3 or 4 hours or until the meat is falling apart tender.

What you want is indirect heat here. Lot's of smoke too. One way to make sure you get smoke is to soak some apple or oak or pecan or better than any of the above, MESQUITE woodchips in some water overnight and then drain the water and spread the chips all over the whitehot coals.

LOW & SLOW is the key to any good bar b que and your brisket is going to need to cook for about 3 or 4 hours under indirect, low heat to make it mouth-watering and Texas tastin!

I am assuming here that yall arent going to own a cooker the size of a one ton dually Ford truck. If you do, fine, turn the heat down and forget about the meat for about 10 hours but if you dont then this is a good way to have the taste of Texas without all the trouble.

Just make sure you do all this on a low fire and v-e-r-y slowly.

GOOD STUFF TO GO WITH BRISKET

Mexican Horseradish Sauce

Easy to do and GREAT with bar b que! In fact, this is a great compliment to any kind of cooked beef.

1 little jar of prepared horseradish
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
little bit of lemon juice

Mix this up and enjoy a dash on your beef.

===============================================
FIRECRACKER JALAPENOS

30 to 36 good sized whole peppers
About a pound of ground pork sausage.
Enough bacon strips to wrap the stuffed peppers in.
( 12 or 15 pieces of bacon, halved)
cream cheese
diced onion
garlic powder
parsley
cayenne pepper or paprika
Shoot you can even chop or dice some cooked shrimps if you have them, dont be shy this is YOUR appetizer, after all!

Wash the jalapenos and cut a slit lengthwise in the peppers and scoop out the seeds and membranes with a table knife or a spoon.

Cook sausage and drain well.

In a bowl mix up the cream cheese, parsley, onions, sausage, garlic powder, and/or shrimps and then...

Stuff the jalapenos and wrap them in the bacon slcies and stick them with toothpicks to keep them from coming apart on the grill.

Grill your peppers on one of the tin grill pans available at the grocery store, the ones with the little holes in it for about 15 or 20 minutes or until all is crispy and happy.

Well, that's about it! This all started because Tamara asked me to pass on some of our version of in-home, easy to do bar b que that still tastes like bar b que.

Sauce you say? What about sauce??? Dipping sauce or bar b que basting sauces? Pardner, thats a whole nother blog!

Remember food is sharing. Food is reaching out from right here in East Texas and taking the taste and aromas all the way to California or Maine or anywhere folks enjoy good cooking.

Food is laughter and family and friends and fun, memories both good and bad and it's all rolled into a meal!

Say, how about YOU sending me some recipes form your family kitchen to mine?

Yall Can send me stuff at ralph@nutrader.com or POST A RESPONSE to my blog, whatever makes your monkies chatter!

Thanks yall and be sure to holler at us on the RADIO show...MONDAY from 2 until 4 in the afternoon cst, and also FRIDAY 7 until 9 in the evening CST. Heck, if I knew what a blog was....I might do it more often but the very word is reminiscent of things stepped on in a cow pasture or feedlot, something one might find behind a horse's tail on a trailride and step around. "Whoa! Don't step in that blog!" kind of thing.

But, I reckon I will blog because it isnt that I dont have anything to say or dont enjoy saying what's on my mind, but I feel somehow a bit pretentious when I blog.

Like, I'm blogging and here is all these folks wanting, nay, NEEDING a good dose of 'blog' for the day and they happen up onto MY blog and there it is....sighs, the disappointment of a watered down blog, a blog that's a hamburger shy of a Happy Meal, a blog that's a brick shy of a load...a blogger that built the buliding but his elevator don't quite rise to the top floor.....and I am to be held responsible for all this blog.....something you might just find behind a cow's tail anyway.

OK, I just heard from Tamara that this kind soul living way out in California wants to understand the concept of Texas bar-b-que. Here agian, friends and neighbors, I am bowled over at the very thought of leaking some of this information.

And, NOT cause this wonderful woman is from California....not one iota of snobbery here, nosirreee Bob! I happen to LOVE California!

Soft gentle ocean breezes...bikini clad girls strolling down the roller-blade paths, The Farmer's Market in Los Angeles....oh yeah, I LIKE California, but I shiver when someone asks me to do Texas bar-b-que cause heck, bar-b-que here in Texas is more an institution than a mere food.

But, in the interest of Gulf state and West Coast relations, here goes and my apologies in advance to those folks who slave away behind a smokin bar-b-que smoker for ten hours at a time.

The RUB

Depends on how large your TRIMMED brisket is.
Please trim some of that fat offa there! Doggone, some fat is a GOOD thang, a whole bunch isnt and if you really want to make it right, get a 'market trimmed' brisket and let the butcher do all the work.

Chili Powder....

Cayene Pepper....

Salt....

Black Pepper.....

Paprika.....

Garlic Powder.....

Onion Powder.....

Little bit of Oregano......

Mix this up in any order and in any amounts you like, all things being equal, all ingredients should be about equal. Bout a quarter cup of each should do it.

Take the brisket out and wash it...not like 'car-wash' washing it, but wipe it off for cleanliness sake anyhow.

Then rub the meat with olive oil on both sides and prepare to rub.

The mixed rub should be handy....the timing just right...the suspense about killing yall.....when first you grab a handful of rub and...attack the meat!

Rub like a couple of Asian massueses breaking down muscle tissue!

Rub the rub into the very fiber of the meat.....making sure you don't sneeze directly onto the brisket while your rubbing cause this stuff generally causes one to sneeze mightily!

Do this on both sides of the meat and even make up more rub if you aint got enough.

There! You have rubbed your meat!

This is going to form a pretty crust on the brisket called a 'bark' on the bar-b-que.

With this all done and in good shape, now comes the time for all good men and women to come to the aid of bar-b-que everywhere!

Time to COOK!

I suppose unless someone REALLY wants to read more blog....I'll shelve the cooking process for another day.

Ralph
www.ralphsbackporch.com

www.blogtalkradio.com/ralphsbackporch

www.NuTrader.com

Paying It Forward

Paying it forward sounds like something we could all do, right? The concept is amazingly simple, yet profound when you actually do it.

Paying it forward is when you're standing there at the gaspump or in the grocery line and you simply and quietly hand the cashier for the person's gas or groceries who's standing behind you.

It's really moving and touching to do this and goes a long way towards cleaning out the stuffy old attic of your soul. It don't work if you make a big fuss about it or crow about it to those folks who think you're kind of grouchy all the rest of the year. Just do it, go on about your business and try not to sneak a peek at the recipient of your kindness to see the absolute shock, then pleasure on thier faces.

How this all started with us had to do with the Fly Lady Organization and, of course, the Starbucks thing our west you see on the news this time of year. We heard about Paying it Forward and thought, how cool is this?

So, we have a radio show called Ralphs Back Porch (shameless advertisement here... www.ralphsbackporch.com) and we decided to devote one whole show to all the people we could get to Pay it Forward in real life and talk about it on the show.

It's only the 12th of December and the show airs on DEC 21st (check this website for times and dates) and already we are getting emails from folks who have paid it forward and have already reaped benefits from small acts of random kindness during this Christmas season.

We recieved this email today

THIS IS FOR ALL OF YOU THAT THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY FOR SENDING TWO CHRISTMAS CARDS TO TOTAL STRANGERS. THIS IS ALSO FOR ALL OF YOU THAT BELIEVED IN WHAT I WAS DOING.

TAMARA HERE IS YOUR MIRACLE CHRISTMAS RADIO SHOW STORY, FROM WOODCHUCK AND FAMILY. WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

I RECEIVED A CARD AND A LETTER BACK FROM ONE OF OUR CHRISTMAS CARD RECIPIENTS. I WAS BOWLED OVER BY WHAT I READ AND NEARLY CRIED. I WILL REWRITE THIS LETTER FOR YOU ALL.

DEAR WOODCHUCK AND FAMILY,

WE WERE SO HAPPY TO GET YOUR CARD. THIS TIME OF YEAR IS VERY HARD FOR US BECAUSE THREE YEARS AGO, ON DECEMBER NINETEENTH, WE LOST OUR SON. HE WAS FIFTEEN AND MENTALLY HANDICAPPED. HE WAS YOUNG IN MIND AND HEART. YOUR CARD MADE ME WANT TO THINK OF SOMEONE ELSE AT CHRISTMAS, WHICH IS WHAT THE SEASON IS ALL ABOUT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CARD, IT PUT A SMILE ON MY AND MY HUSBANDS FACE. THANK YOU.

MERRY CHRISTMAS,

CHRIS AND BOB

THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!! I TOUCHED THE LIFE OF SOMEONE WHO WAS HURTING AND IN NEED. I NEVER THOUGHT THIS WOULD HAPPEN. If it doesn't fit in a paragraph or can be heard in a few seconds we don't seem to want to deal with all the overwhelming input bombarding us from all angles and all levels.

I enjoy the offbeat, the persistantly odd and outrageous. The truck chock full 'o donuts stolen from a convenience store parking lot and chased down by siren blaring cop cars. A big old truck with it's back doors swinging wide in the night, cops careening along behind it being pelted with fresh krispy treats.

Jennifer L. Hewitt's backside emblazoned on the covers of tabloids in grocery stores all over America. A cellulite smorgasbord for all of us who want to feel at least a bit better about ourselves now that we've seen a young female Hollyweird heartthrob with her butt hanging out of a binkini.

Is Brittany preggers or is she not? Can Brad indeed rebuild New Awlins almost single-handedly? Pink tents notwithstanding, perhaps he can, and if he does, more power to him, I say.

Can Senator Craig GET any stranger with all these men hanging around claiming the good, honest politico cruised them or had sex with them at one time or another. Sheesh, ever since that particular story broke I have been squeemish about using public restrooms. I keep my feet very still while in any public stall doing what business we all must do in those situations.

Perhaps we could stop a minute and take a breath in between all the strange stories about people who frankly seem to have way too much time on their hands and reflect on what is news and why it needs to be reported.

News is something that affects us all in some way. Natural disasters come to mind. Politics is another news event we can all learn from. Every now and then we need a "Forrest Gump" tearjerker moment to keep some balance but overall news used to be, and should be, something that inspires, educates, or whips us into a passionate frenzy.

News should be reported in a bit more detail than the current fare of blips and bleepswe seem to get today on any given newscast. For once I'd like to hear an early morning newscast that will tell me, to the best of anyone's knowledge, WHY some nutcase kid walks off an elevator in a mall in Omaha and blows away 8 innocent people with a stolen ak-47.

I'd like to actually hear the ideas and goals of politicians who are poised to be elected to run the free world this coming go-round. I am thristy to hear more of the nuts and bolts of how they intend to go about fixing a severly flawed nation.

News is important. Done well, it can inform a great many people and inspire true change. I just don't think Eva Mendez and her wardrobe choices for the next big awards show or the clandestine romances kindled on Dancing With the Stars qualifies as news.

Friday Night Ranch Round Up & Josh Lyons

Howdy! So, how cool is having JOSH LYONS on http://www.ralphsbackporch.com/ last night, huh, huh?

Mighty doggone cool, I'd say!

Josh, as ya'll know, is a young, but already famous and nationally known horse trainer and equine specialist who stands within his own world as one of the best in the field today. However, Josh and a whole lot of other people would say that his daddy, John Lyons had something to do with Josh and his philosophy and techniques, after all John Lyons is a pioneer in the horse world and "the most trusted horseman in America"...not my words but words used to describe Mr. Lyons and I venture to guess one day will be sued to describe Josh.

How the heck could Josh NOT be a horseman living and growing up in that kind of environment, anyway?

And, Ralph's Backporch, our humble little old radio show was blessed to have Josh as our extra special guest last night and boy, was he good!

We spent our time with Josh talking about regular things to a regular guy who is caring about horses and the people he trains to work with horses. We talked about the business end of the deal and what it might take for someone like you or me to become certified in his certification program and what limitations there are (none) and what dedication on the person's part there has to be ( a lot) and how to get started in the program (email Josh and ask!).

Josh impressed me and Tamara on several levels not the least of which is his simple and effective way of communicating and the appreciation in his words and tone that let us know he enjoyed talking horses out there on our back porch.

We liked what we heard and we look forward to talking more with Josh and asking more specific questions about specific circumstances in the near future.

For now, it was a simple pleasure to talk with a world class horseman and get to know a man who truly IS growing into his own!

Thanks Josh!

You can find the entire interview on http://www.ralphsbackporch.com/ or just take a listen right here!

Oh, and by the way, ya'll are always welcome to come and share the porch with us and our guests...you never know who's going to drop by and sit a spell with us!

Ralphs Back Porch for Nov

Welcome to the Back Porch! Nov. 10th 2007
Johnny comes marching home agian......
Tucked away in a grove of old cedars near Keatchie Louisiana is one of the most peaceful places on Earth to my way of thinking. The sunshine seems a little softer there, the morning fog shimmers in the light of dawn and the sun sets turn the sky a rosy color as day after day comes and goes for this patch of ground.
It's hallowed ground there with almost two hundred soldiers buried among the cedars, white marble grave markers worn away by wind and rain but still standing giving us the information about regiment, company, name of the soul buried and dates, of course, all old dates from a time long, long ago.
Those soldiers wore gray uniforms and came from all across the country to give up the last thing they could, and that was life itself for a cause lost to eternity and circumstance and isn't that the way of soldiers? To give so much for causes and governments?
We have been honoring these boys for a long time because of a date some group or club a long time ago decided was the right date for us to do so and we honor them still by tending graves and mowing and making eternity in that grove of cedar trees peaceful and calm but we also honor others who have fallen, and some who haven't fallen and some who never did but still limped home and began new lives after our Civil War, The Spanish American War, World Wars 1 & 2, Korea, Viet Nam, the Gulf War and now the war in Iraq.
We honor them because we owe them, plain and simple. We owe them what freedoms we enjoy, we owe them the best of years because they sacrificed the best of their youth to make us able to enjoy the home front.
NOVEMBER 11 Veteran's Day
While you wave the Stars & Stripes this coming Veteran's Day think of this. 1 out of every 4 homeless people on our streets today are Vets.
Yearly charities collect millions of dollars to make veteran's lives easier and yearly some of the charities, not all of 'em mind you, rip off Vets and pocket the money they so desperately need.
Today somebody somewhere is standing at an airport gate waiting to shake a Vet's hand or hug a Vet's neck welcoming them home.
Vets buy high-priced gasoline and like us, most of them pay outrageous sums of money for bread and milk and they tend to families and care for children, just like us, but unlike most of us, they have stood in the horrible gap and watched as the thunder of war rolled over them.
My son, Jess is a Vet. He spent 18 months as a Stryker Vehicle driver in Baghdad and other nameless patches of God-forsaken sand in a land that absolutely hates us for the most part.
Jess was rotated home to Ft. Wainwright in Alaska last year and is right now facing the prospect of going back to Iraq for another tour of duty and you know what? Amidst the flag-waving and the speechifying of politicians across our land, the only thing Jess has asked for in years is help getting him and his daughter home for a visit around Christmas and to even make reservations with a surly airline we had to make several phone calls and speak to people barely able to converse in English about his tickets.
Just to let you know, I'm not just griping for the sake of griping. I STILL and always will believe we live in the best country in the world and that if it is worth having, it is worth fighting for.
So, we send our best youth to fight in lands thousands of miles from home. We trust in men and women in Washington who sometimes don't deserve this trust and we BELIEVE in the values we hold dear, liberty, the justice of our system of government, unalienable rights ordained by God Himself and we send our young men and women away to protect and to defend....us.
And Johnny comes limping home agian......
Say a prayer Monday for all the boys and girls who never make it home other than to spend eternity in a small patch of ground in a cemetery. Never forget why those kids are in Iraq and a hundred other places in harm's way.
Be sure to shake a Vet's hand and say the one thing they all want to hear more than anything, "Welcome HOME, soldier"
====================================================
When doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card and send it to this address. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these wonderful special people who have sacrificed so much would get.
A Great Idea!!!
When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please include the following:A Recovering American soldierc/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center6900 Georgia Avenue,NW
Sent in by Shirley from San augustine, Texas.
=======================================================================
www.pva.org Paralyzed Veterans of America. Please contact to donate or to send an E-Card to a vet who desperately need to know you care.
===========================================================================
Ralph's Back Porch
As all of you must know by now, Ralph's Back Porch is on the radio in the form of a national SWAP SHOP and Boy! I have to admit.. "THIS IS FUNNY!!"
Joe
Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and George W. Bush went to a fitness spa for some fun. After a stimulating, healthy lunch, all three decided to visit the men's room and they found a strange-looking gent sitting at the entrance. He said, "Welcome to the gentlemen's room. Be sure to check out our newest feature, a mirror that, if you look into it and say something truthful, you will be rewarded with your wish. But, be warned: if you say something FALSE, you will be sucked into the mirror to live in a void of nothingness for all eternity!" The three men quickly entered and upon finding the mirror, Bill Clinton stepped up and said, "I think I'm the most intelligent of us three," and he suddenly found the keys to a brand new Bentley in his hands. Al Gore stepped up and said, "I think I'm the most aware of the environmental problems of us three," and in an instant, he was surrounded by a pile of money to fund his next Presidential Campaign. Excited over the possibility of finally having a wish come true, George W. Bush looked into the mirror and said, "I think...," and was promptly sucked into the mirror.
================================================
Well, that's about it for this week's Back Porch. I have to admit in my old age I'm getting a little lazy but it IS so much more fun to do the radio version of the Back Porch!
We hope you all will stop by and tell us WHAT VETERANS DAY means to you and your family.
Remember, all you have to do is CALL 347 215 8849 on Monday, 2pm CST.
We jabber away there from 2 until 4 so please call us and say "Howdy!"
Until next week, may God bless & keep each and every one of yall.
Ralph
www.NuTrader.com
www.blogtalkradio.com/ralphsbackporch
Ralphwww.NuTrader.comwww.blogtalkradio.com/ralphsbackporchhttp://www.ralphsbackporch.blogspot.com

Who are the New American Po Folks?

It's all a matter of mathematics. A simple, ordinary, garden variety math equation and not even "new math" at that! Ok, raise your hands....who remembers 'new math' now days?

Back to the subject, and that is the New Po Folks here in America. America is no stranger to Po Folks by any means, heck they been around since the first settlers stepped off rickety ships just landed on these shores and I reckon they are going to be around for as long as we are a nation so we aren't talking about OLD po folks, we need to take a long, hard look at the NEW po folks and how they got that way and what can be done about making them at the very least middle class once more.

New po folks are...well, us, in a word. We the people. You and me who aren't quite making it out there in the land of milk and honey.

The math part? Here's the deal, we each have so many dollars to use as we see fit at the end of the week or however you out there get paid and those dollars have to last until the ink dries on the next teensy-tiny check the boss man hands us and how we manage that money usually determines whether or not we get the medical care we might need, our household utilities being cut off or staying on so we can light up our modest homes and play our X boxes, car repairs...no, not even repairs cause the clutch don't go kaflooey on the family vehicle every week, but we DO have to suffer the humiliation every day of buying gas that is now in the range of a precious commodity kind of like diamonds or gold...being $3.00 a gallon and all, and food.

So, we start out with X dollars and we mentally countdown each expenditure, "I got two hunnerd and if I buy this, I'll have a hunnderd, sixty-seven left....now if I can catch a sale at the grocery store I can buy corn dogs and frozen pizza and mac n cheese for at least three nights worth of supper....sigh" And, if you are like me you hang around wistfully staring at the meat counter each time you stroll by it, not looking people in the eye cause then they might now without a doubt you can't really buy anything you are just looking at meat skyrocket in price and remembering when you could feed your family good old American beef for a reasonable amount of money.

You agonize over every dollar that dwindles away and makes your wallet lighter and lighter as the bills mount and the the stress takes it's toll. Sometimes when it gets too much to bear I have seen women and men alike get that "Po Folks" look on their faces and you can tell these aren't people living in shacks with cars on blocks in the front yard, these folks work and pay taxes and make a little money and try hard to hold their heads up even though the mat problems of making a buck stretch get harder and harder by the day.

Politicians and government? Don't make me laugh! In the first place it isn't the governments J-O-B to make all our troubles go away or to protect us from all the bogeymen out there in life. We swallowed hook, line & sinker all the BS the government fed us back in the sixties and we bought into the theory that they, the slickers and the scammers who took over Washington, spooned into our waiting and wanting mouths.

WE allowed government to make our decisions for us, to order our lives and to "protect" us from the many waves of change blowing like sour winds across our nation's landscape and we thought, some with the convictions of an old timey revival meeting, that government could and would coddle us as a people from the cradle to the grave.

Nope. We can no longer blame government but we CAN change the course of how we feel and what we believe and how we vote. Whatever happened to crippled Frank Roosevelt leaning on the podium in front of Congress and assuring us all that "The only thing we have to fear...is fear itself!"? Where did the America that fought World Wars, pulled itself up by it's bootstraps and overcame dust bowls, depressions, droughts, unemployment and a host of other ills go?

The generation that achieved so much sent the next generation off to universities and educated them so that they could grasp for the torch of time and carry it into another era. Trouble is, those kids got taught not what the universities KNEW for a fact, but what the teachers THOUGHT they knew and it was mostly hog-wash. And, look what happened? Don't we all wished they would've just stick to the facts?

We have a lot of issues social, economical and downright personal that need to be addressed but I am told the height stupidity is doing the same thing over and over the same way and expecting different results. Right now we are battling all these issues with the same mentality that gave us $3.00 gasoline and a $12. rump roast from the grocery store.

While people still run this government who have no clue whatsoever who we are out here in America and what we go through on a daily basis to survive, we won't ever be able to do anything more than the simple grinding, heart wrenching mathematics of trying to make a dollar stretch far enough to just exist.

"Let's see....I can do without a phone this week, maybe new tires next payday, well ONE new tire....Awww man, whatabout food?"

You can paint a pumpkin black.......but that don't make it a bowling ball!

There's good news and bad news here. as well as our brand-spankin new and improved family sized LIVE BACK PORCH & SWAP SHOP on Mondays 2PM CST @ www.blogtalkradio.com/ralphsbackporch

"Yessir", he says "We think alike but we have two different ways of approaching things...but I reckon it's all good since we wind up in the same place"

Now this tells me that there is a diveristy and a genuine individualism still lodged deep in the American soul and that even though we ALL know right from wrong and MOST of us posess enough common sense to pour liquid from a boot, with or without directions wrote on the heel, and that if WE as Americans put our hearts and minds together we can still make a go of the absolute best form of government ever instituted on the face of this little old planet.

Democrat? Republican? Libertarian? Independant? Know Nothing? Isolationist? Whig? Tory? these are all just words and some of them are very old now, but they all describe ideals we have had in the past about the way our government should run.

Wasn't too long ago, in fact, my Daddy was a proud 'Dixie-Crat" and that particular part of the Democratic party has also gone by the wayside, the very word maligned and misused because of the Civil Rights reforms that took place back in the sixties.

Folks, I can recall very vividly that Dixie Crats were conservative, stood for core family values, pro life supporters, and stood for conservative stewardship of our finances.

The thing about it is, our present day Republicans here in the South, at least, are old fashioned Dixie Crats and don't even know it. There just isn't any other party to hang our hats on right now but the Republican party and let's face it, there is as much sexual scandal, corruption, misuse of the public trust in the GOP as there is in any other party.

We certainly don't care for Ted Kennedy, Fienstien and the like. Our president back before the present administration, who just happened to get caught doing something naughty while in the Oval Office, not only lied to his wife, but lied to Congress and then US, and dang it, that aint right and we SHOULD have thrown his slick butt out of office.

But.....what'd we get in his place? $3.00 a gallon gas? Jobs flying out the back door so that Indians and Pakistanis can snap 'em up? Mexicans flooding the borders?

Ya'll want to stop all the illegals coming over her? STOP ALLOWING COMPANIES TO HIRE 'EM!

Cut off the money supply and how do WE do that? VOTE FOR FOLKS YOU KNOW WON'T ALLOW IT.

oh! The Wild hog thing......take a look at this!

How to catch wild pigs
There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab, the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question.

He asked, "Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. "You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence.

They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. While we continually lose our freedoms - just a little at a time.

One should always remember "There is no such thing as a free lunch!" Also, "You can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

Sent in by Joe Ryan up in Center, Texas. Thanks Joe!
===================================================
YOU CAN PAINT A PUMPKIN BLACK BUT.....

It's never gonna be a bowling ball!

The bad news is: We as Americans are soft, good for nothing in general, too lazy to work and too nervous to steal, and what my grandmaw like to call 'shiftless".

We have been attached to the government teat for so long it just seems natural to belly up to that old gumint giveaway tough for another heapin helpin of good old time nasty pork barrel porridge.

The GOOD News is: WE don't have to take it anymore! I frankly don't care if you are a Republican, a Democrat, white, black, brown or a purple people eater, if you are as ticked off about this as most folks in this country then it is time to do something about it.

OK....I am NOT going to tout any one candidate for president. I refuse. I refuse to talk bad about homosexuals (NO, I refuse to call them 'gay'...gay means happy! Gay doesn't mean queer...I don't much like that term neither. Gay doesn't mean an alternative sexual lifestyle, gay means the opposite of sad which I find funny they call themselves that. Personally I have no axe to grind either way. If they are proud enough to have 'Gay Pride" parades, then they ought to be proud enough to call themselves what they are, which is homosexuals...duh. Don't get me wrong, I don't approve of that lifestyle I just think folks ought to call a pig a pig if it snorts.))

What Im gonna do is lay it out here on the line and IF yall want to pay attention, that's fine and if you don't well, choose someone YOU think can do a good job.

Mike Huckabee. In the first place this is the ONLY candidate running on the Republican ticket that has a concealed handgun permit.
Yeah, that isn't the ONLY reason I'm going to vote for him, but it IS a start!

He's also an ordained minister. He pastored a church and if you want to get back to old time core values, then why not give a Christian minister a chance to lead? Lord knows, these old boys are good at raising money and they also know how to stand up to a crowd of naysayers and least but not last, ministers know how to squeeze a nickel until the buffalo bellows.

http://www.mikehuckabee.com/index.cfm?FuseAction=Issues.Home

Take a look and see what I see in this guy. Honesty, integrity, faith in tomorrow, grounded in the past, common sense.
Enough of that.

Vote for whomever you will but the point is...VOTE!

=========================================
IT'S A JOKE!

Housekeeping Tips
1. It is time to clean out the refrigerator when something closes the door from the inside.2. If it walks out of your refrigerator, let it go!3. The best mini-vac for an after meal clean up is the dog.4. Keep it clean enough for healthy, dirty enough for happy.5. Never make fried chicken in the nude.6. Do not engage in unarmed combat with a dust bunny big enough to choke the vacuum cleaner.7. You make the beds, you do the dishes, and six months later you have to start all over again.8. If guys were suppose to hang clothes up, door knobs would be bigger.9. My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance.10. Thou shalt not weigh more than thy refrigerator.11. Simplify... hire a maid.12: My second favourite household chore is ironing. My first being Hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint.13. I'm not going to vacuum 'til Sears makes one you can ride on.14. I am a marvellous housekeeper. Every time I leave a man I keep his house.15. Cobwebs artfully draped over lampshades reduce the glare from the bulb, thereby creating a romantic atmosphere. If your husband points out that the light fixtures need dusting, simply look affronted and exclaim, "What? And spoil the mood?"16. When writing your name in the dust on the table, omit the date.
17. If dusting is REALLY out of control, simply place a showy urn on the coffee table and insist that "THIS is where Grandma wanted us to scatter her ashes
Thanks Gladys!
===========================================
ROSES WHERE ROSES ARE DUE!
The other night we got a call from someone and all we heard was my son, Travis" wife hollering "Oh My God! Ooooooh My God!" Like teleportation me, Lydia and tamara all stood instantly by Meagan as she clutched the phone to her ear listening and I knew as well as I am sitting here that something mighty bad had happened to Travis and it had.

The person on the line had told us that Travis car was found on a highway outside of Pineland Texas crushed, the airbag deployed and blood soaking the interior.
If you can imagine the weight of a thousand pound rock settling on your chest, cutting your air off, making you gasp for every breath and then your mind going to much, that would describe all of us at that moment.
Several things happened in rapid sucession. Calls were made to Sherrifs offices, EMS services, hospitals and anyone we could think of. We coould think of nothing other than finding him and praying to God that he was alive, that Travis had survived whatever tragedy this was and when it come's down to this point...all you want is to have your little boy home, safe, warm, loved, protected.
I was on one cell phone, talking to the local authorities, who by the way, bless their hearts, couldn't do much other than try to make me calm and be patient with me when another cell phone rang and it was TRAVIS on the other line! ALIVE!
"Uh Dad..." dazed and confused sounding but definitely alive, "Could you come get me? I'm close to Pineland at someone's house" and then his voice trailed off and an older gentleman got on the phone.
"Mr. Hampton?" The man sounded downright scared. "Your son is pretty bad and needs to go to a hospital pretty quick." Then the old man gave me directions and before he hung up the phone our truck was screaming down the hiway with Lydia telling me to "slow down for goodness sake! It won't help Travis if we're dead!"
We hung a sharp left into the driveway and there was Travis waiting under the porch light, bloody from head to toe, his nose split wide open, his face swollen beyond belief with the elderly couple gently ministering to his needs in the bright light of the porch.
I rushed over and grabbed up my son, hugged him gently and then gave him over to my wife to get into the truck for his trip to the hsopital.
And then.....I turned and saw the old couple, wringing hands, worried faces, and I enfolded the sweet, small lady in my arms and brought her gently to my chest and hugged her while her husband joined us and we all began to cry.
We held one another tightly and I leaned down and said, "Thank God for people like you." And then I whirled and left on the run to get Travis to a much needed doctor.
Well, some stitches later...some helping, kind hands, some fine doctoring by a man named Dr. Liftschitz (I kid you not) and some welcome attention from Lynn Schovsja, our dear friend and a night nurse at Hemphill Hospital.
Travis is home now after a tie rod broke and a car swerving away from a deer, after butting headon into a pinetree which happened not to budge, after an airbag deployed at the rate of 200 hundred miles an hour directly into the kid's face, after all this, he is home, a little worse for wear, a little bunged up and a whole lot smarter about avoiding deers at night, Travis is home.
I dont even know the name of the elderly couple who took my broken son off the street, wiped the blood from his face, gave him a fresh shirt and bandaged him until we arrived. I bet I find out and when I do I am going to see them and thank them better.
Until then, thank you! May God bless you and keep you.
========================================================
The Problem with Outsourcing
A friend of mine got really depressed last night.So he called Lifeline.He got a call center in Pakistan.He told them he was suicidal.They got all excited and asked if he could fly a plane?
Joe from Center! The number is: 347 215 8849 on Mondays, 2PM CST\
============================================
Good Morning Ralph!

I was just letting you know that I haven’t received the Back Porch yet this week. Is everything going all right?

Thanks!
This came from Joanna in Idaho and hopefully she has her Back Porch by now. Folks, sometimes I don't even realize how much the Back Porch can mean until yall tell me you aren't getting it or that it hasn't come yet.
Yesterday at Sassafras Festival in downtown San Augustine we had a whole bunch of folks come up to us, shake our hands and tell us how much they enjoy the Back Porch and I'd like to take a moment to thank them right here and now.
We don't send out the Back Porch to call attention to ourselves, we like to think Back Porch helps yall feel a part of our community here at www.NuTrader.com and now at www.blogtalkradio.com/ralphsbackporch which is the NEW LIVE SWAP SHOP!
Buddy & Vickie from Bronson also shook our hands yesterday and let us know how much they enjoyed what we do and like I told them, it ain't us here in the office that counts, it's all of YOU we depend upon to help our days go better!
So THANK YOU NuTrader users for reading us, browsing ads, posting ads and letting our advertisers know you FOUND 'EM ON WWW.NuTrader.com!
==========================================
CHEAP TOMATOES
This should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent From a California school teacher - - - "As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels.Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens , Huntington Park , etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools. Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. ( OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK ) I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK) I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America . (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK) I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them "Putas" whores and throwing things that the teachers were in tears. Free medical, free education, free food, day careetc., etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements ?To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs. Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes. We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it . Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return? It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate , and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about " politically correctness" that we don't have the will to do anything about it. If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know. CHEAP LABOR? Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about?Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage. Consumers don't want expensive produce. Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs. But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth , a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as "cheap labor." Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free. He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.He qualifies for food stamps. He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care. His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school.
He requires bilingual teachers and books. He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at (our) taxpayer's expense . He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance. Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits. Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his. The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up. Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people! THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR EITHER PARTY. 'AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON'T DO AS THEY SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE!'
I'd like to add this.....
We here in America are so funny. We gripe and complain about illegals and all the woes of our country today, and yet, yet... I saw a voting sign yesterday on the county courthouse lawn that said, "VOTE HERE" and right under the word 'here' was printed in large letters "Aqui" which is SPAINISH for 'here'.
Folks, I saw on TV the other day a reporter who was reporting on those devasting fires in California hem up Governor Schwarzenegger and begin badgering him with questions about fault and blame and doom & gloom and the man actually had to grag this reporter's hand gently in his large paws and explain to her that there simply WAS no bad things there on that day. People were safe, people were glad to be alive, people were determined and that the American Spirit is alive and well right there in California amidst so much heartache and loss.
Seems to me like we need more leaders in this country who direct us to the GOOD things, who will help us see the RIGHT things our governements can do and sweep aside the Armeggedon mentality and go on and do the right thing!
Do you want to change things? Then get off your fannies and don't accept BUSINESS AS USUAL! YOU have the power, NOT the politicians!
Well, enough of that!
Yall be sure and CALL us this Monday and each Monday at 2PM CST and talk to me on the Live Swap Shop! The number is 347 215 8849 and we'd like to hear from each and every one of you!
Remember to POST some ads on www.Nutrader.com this week, ok? We love to see what yall BUY, SELL & TRADE!
Until next week, have a BLESSED day and make sure you say a little pray for those folks who need it!
Ralph
www.NuTrader.com

Welcome to this Week's Back Porch!
Let me start with, the way it worked on our porches here in Rosevine years ago. We would all sit around on the porch steps, Uncle Alton and granddaddy laid back in the porch swings, us kids on the steps and, if it was a Sunday, preacher Smith would be allowed the rocking chair.
One old man would say something he knew would get the ball rolling, and one by one, all of us would chime in on the subject and pretty soon there would be a lively debate going on about various issues affecting anything from the price of cattle to groceries to religion.
We talked a heap about politics and so I still carry on this tradition and some of yall may agree with me and some might not, that's ok cause i doubt I would agree with you on everything too and that makes the world go round, doesn't it?
I had a lady recently write and ask me why I use so many commas. This wonderful lady, bless her heart, allowed I could use a comma where one wouldn't dare go if it was any self-respecting comma in a grammar book, and I tend to agree with her. I was taught to err on the side of too much, too often, and sometimes I get carried away. Now, understand I’m still going to punctuate with commas or any dang thing else I please, but shoot, I do appreciate her noticing and maybe she can send me a Back Porch all cleaned up and edited.
Tamara's kinfolk wrote and told her she shouldn't use all milk in her morning gravy cause milk has too many calories in it and to make morning gravy 'figure friendly' Tamara should cut way back on the milk.
Well, now I beg to differ! In the first place if you make gravy right, there is about a quarter cup of bacon or sausage renderings in it and once you get past that, what's a little milk?
TAMARA'S MORNING GRAVEY
Fry up your sausage or bacon in a hot cast iron skillet. Go on! Render all that delicious meat down until it's offered up all that sweet, delectable grease. (I tried here to think of a more palatable word or phrase but nothing came to mind that would do justice to bacon fat like, well....bacon fat. Pork fat is a goooood thing! So, we will continue to say 'grease' cause it may be less offensive to some of yall than 'lard')
Take up the bacon or sausage and place on a paper towel to drain off the 'grease'.
Now your drippings are still hot and the flame still burns brightly under the heavy iron of the skillet so, spoon in an equal amount of flour into the hot grease and stir it around.
Add some salt and a LOT of black ground pepper.
Stir until this becomes a loose paste, nutty brown, and then ADD a little milk slowly while stirring.
Add a little more milk, but don't run away with yourself here...you want a creamy consistency.
Stir like Old Man Jim Becton's House burned (old saying meaning 'stir mightily!") until the gravy thickens and it is a nutty brown and little air bubbles are popping in the mixture.
Pour into a gravy bowl and hit it with a bit more pepper and a touch more salt to taste.
I LIKE SAUSAUGE AT THIS POINT, IN MINE!
If you happen to have some fresh ground sausage NOW is the time for all good sausage eaters to come to the aid of the gravy! Dump 'er right in that soft, liquid Heaven and gently fold it in together.
Ok, now is the time we can ladle up a heapin helpin onto the buttery underbelly of our biscuits!
Write and commiserate with Tamara on all these RECIPES ok? We would love to hear what YALL like to eat!
=====================================================================
Mach Choux
Texans pronounce this mock shoe and it is to die for! We had it last night with a huge pot of seafood gumbo. Gumbo is a whole different matter but the mach chouxis, well, something else, some kinda good!
The Trinity
A 'trinity' anywhere south of Leesville, La. means only one thing and it is not to be confused with 'The HOLY Trinity" of Biblical fame. A trinity is chopped celery, onion & bell pepper. Dice these vegetables anywhere from big hunks down to pretty finely diced, just dont make them so small they evaporate in a hot sauté pan or skillet.
Sautee the trinity in some kind of oil heated in a pan. Sauté until clear and soft, bout 5 minutes or so.
Add one diced jalapeno pepper, a drained can of whole kernel corn and some garlic and sauté this as well.
Let's talk meat! Andouille sausage, TASSO AND crawfish tails are THE ingredients for mach choux! If you aren't familiar with any of these meats, lemme tell you about them.
Andouille sausage is Cajun sausage and it has a particular flavor and is pretty spicy although not nearly as spicy as Mexican Chorizo, but spicier than Kielbasa. It is a more dense, tightly packed sausage too. I buy mine over at the Big Star grocery in Toledo Town but you can also get it on the internet.
Tasso is like Cajun jerky, only not jerked til it is dried completely out. Tasso is ham, lean and dried, and you use it mostly to cook with but it's good to slice up and eat at the table too.
Crawfish is crawfish and they taste mighty fine in mach choux or just about anything else. You can get crawfish tails in those plastic bags nowadays and that is far better than having to buy them fresh, boil them, then peel them like in the old days. The old days crawfish tasted better, though. Ah, such is progress, right?
Ok, the vegetables have simmered for about ten minutes now and you are putting about a pound of tasso or andouille in the simmering veggies along with about a half pound of crawfish.
SEASONING
A shot of dry white wine if you have it. Gives it a mellow taste and never hurt anyone cause the alcohol burns off but leaves that flavor of wine!
Cajun seasonings if you like. I use salt, pepper, cayenne, a liberal dousing of Tabasco, and a sprinkle of paprika.
Stir to mix the seasonings, wine meat & veggies, then pour about a half cup of HEAVEY CREAM into the skillet and stir well.
Yes, heavy cream. Yes, in with Tabasco, tasso, crawfish and veggies. This absolutely makes this dish!
Bring the mixture up to boil temperature and when it bubbles and pops, then turn the stove down to simmer and let 'er ride for about ten to fifteen minutes, stirring occasionally.
That's it! Economical, good for you, easy to make and delicious! The whole things takes less than 30 minutes to make is an excellent side dish with most anything, especially gumbo.
Try mach choux over baked potatoes. Try it with fried taters or grilled eggplant. This is good stuff and we hope you enjoy our version. I wish some of the folks down in south Louisiana would write and let us know what they think of our recipe and tell us about how they make mach choux, so why don't yall get your fingers clicking away on that keyboard and let us know something good to eat, ok?
SEND US SOME RECIPES!
=============================================================
THE WEATHER
I guess talking about the weather here at www.NuTrader.com Back Porch is just part of who we are. We are rural people, for the most part, and dang proud of that, and weather is a very important part of who we are and how we live. Even though folks mainly think of Texas as big cities now, like Houston, Dallas, Beaumont and the like, there are still a whole bunch of us who live in the sticks.
It's officially Fall, least it is in my book, anyhow. Yesterday, Monday, the first seasonal Norther blew in. A Norther is a weather pattern that blows cool, refreshing air into an otherwise stifling climate.
It was around 85 at 11 am and by 3pm the temp had dropped a full 20 degrees and it was slashing rain across the deep green landscape of East Texas.
It was WONDERFUL! This year has been hot and although not as dry as some, dry enough so's you'd notice the dust behind your truck on a dirt road.
I don't look forward to the seven or eight weeks of bone-chilling cold to come but to have some rain and to see the mists shrouding the highways was pretty darn great!
Write and let me know about YOUR weather cause I'm interested, ok?
==================================================
The LIVE Radio Back Porch
Sometimes things take on a life of it's own, don't they, without you ever having to work at it much and even though you may have reservations about that thing. That's the way the radio call in talk show is doing.
I'm kind of a shy fellow, pretty reserved about most things and I listen more than I talk but Tamara talked me into this radio thing and it IS fun! I like the heck out of it, especially since people can call in and talk and we have done two shows now (we air on MONDAY @ 2PM Central time on www.blogtalkradio.com/ralphsbackporch) and on both shows people have been kind enough to call in and help us out.
We read some of YOUR ads on the air, we showcase some of our Nutrader sponsors, I talk about news from around here or news I think is interesting and we have some music and I wrap it up with some politics or something else absurd.
The show is a lot of fun and we are doubling in listeners with each show.
This week I talked about nipping violence in the bud and how if we took our jobs as parents in this society more seriously we wouldn't have the oceans of convicts in our mega-jails and how at one time Texas was the model for the countries penal system.
Which brings me to something our good friend and watch-dog, Jerry from down around Houston sent us about the Sheriff, Joe Arpaio out in Arizona.
Here it is and it bears reading again:
You got to love that Sheriff Joe!
Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over, and the County Supervisors said okay. The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behavior. They give great classes for anyone who'd like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them place in dog shows. The best part? His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million. Some friends adopted a Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago. He was neutered, and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a microchip inserted the day they got him. Cost; $78. The prisoners get the benefit of about $0.28 an hour for working, but most would work for free, just to be out of their cells for the day. Most of his budget is for utilities, building maintenance, etc. He pays the prisoners out of the fees collected for adopted animals. I have long wondered when the rest of the country would take a look at the way he runs the jail system, and copy some of his ideas. He has a huge farm, donated to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own fresh vegetables and food, doing all the work and harvesting by hand. He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat, and fertilizer. It fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a living Christmas tree for $6 - $8 for the Holidays, and plant it later. We have six trees in our yard from the Prison. Yup, he was reelected last year with 83% of the vote. Now he's in trouble with the ACLU again. He painted all his buses and vehicles with a mural, that has a special hotline phone number painted on it, where you can call and report suspected illegal aliens. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement wasn't doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained specifically for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought 4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border. He's kind of a "Git-R Dun" kind of Sheriff.
Update on Joe Arpaio TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY: Sheriff Joe Arpaio (In Arizona) Who created the "Tent City Jail": He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them. He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights Cut off all but "G" movies. He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects. Then He Started Chain Gangs For Women So He Wouldn't Get Sued For Discrimination. He took away cable TV Until he found out there was A Federal Court Order That Required Cable TV For Jails So He Hooked Up The Cable TV Again Only Let In The Disney Channel And The Weather Channel. When asked why the weather channel He Replied, So They Will Know How Hot It's Gonna Be While They Are Working ON My Chain Gangs. He Cut Off Coffee Since It Has Zero Nutritional Value. When the inmates complained, he told them, "This Isn't The Ritz/Carlton If You Don't Like It, Don't Come Back." He bought Newt Gingrich's lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails ails. When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.
More On The Arizona Sheriff: With Temperatures Being Even Hotter Than Usual In Phoenix (116 Degrees Just Set A New Record), The Associated Press Reports: About 2,000 Inmates Living In A Barbed-Wire-Surrounded Tent Encampment At The Maricopa County Jail Have Been Given Permission To Strip Down To Their Government-Issued Pink Boxer Shorts. On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 Degrees Inside The Week Before. Many Were Also Swathed In Wet, Pink Towels As Sweat Collected On Their Chests And Dripped Down To Their PINK SOCKS. "It Feels Like We Are In A Furnace," Said James Zanzot, An Inmate Who Has Lived In The TENTS for 1 year. "It's Inhumane." Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: "It's 120 Degrees In Iraq And Our Soldiers Are Living In Tents Too, And They Have To Wear Full Battle Gear, But They Didn't Commit Any Crimes, So Shut Your Damned Mouths!" Way To Go, Sheriff! Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.
You know, it occurs to me that Sheriff Joe way out in Arizona doesn't have the market cornered on common sense and that IF, just IF, we as voters on a county level made it know loudly, clearly and with force WE wanted the same conditions for OUR county right here where we live and that if we as voters would accept NOTHING LESS from a candidate for sheriff, then we might put a plug in the leaking dikes of our local crime problems.
Folks a wise man once said, "If it is to be...it is up to me!" Well, WE can make a difference in our local political systems and I'm not sure that isn't where we ought to begin changing things.
I am certainly going to make a LOT of noise about changing things in Sabine County Texas in the next election and I advise YOU to flood your local newspapers, radios and right HERE AT WWW.NuTrader.com with your thoughts, ideas and even demands for local candidates of all parties and persuasions!
=======================================================
what yall are saying:
Ralph & Tamara:
Boy was this a good newsletter! I don't know just where to start............. Tamara I can 'feel your pain' as we are restoring an 80 yr old house while living in it. My husband is an electrician by trade and HATES plumbing, as he so aptly puts it "electricity don't drip". Anyway you sound like you'll do fine. Now for pagan holidays; they are only pagan if you let them be. When we are worshiping God and recognizing his Son's birthday does it really matter if it is December 25 or the middle of August? Christmas isn't Santa or was Santa a pagan god I didn't know about..........hmmm? You can't print what I think we should do to the child molesters so I won't even go there. As for the generation of uncontrolled, irresponsible, sit on your butt and let the government take care of you, that we see everyday; my question is HOW did we let it go this far? I for one spanked my kids and neither of them is deranged. There are just times that a 'time out' won't work. You couldn't PAY me to be a teacher nowadays they have to deal with children who have never had to be accountable for their actions and the teachers can't make them accountable so what do you do? They just pass them on to the next year and they end up getting out of school with no work ethic and no accountability for anything they do and we wonder why they end up in the penal system? I remember when Texas had a self sustaining prison system. My father put in a 'state of the art' at the time cattle feeding system outside of Huntsville years ago. The money we spend on housing,clothing and feeding prisoners could be put to better use. I also remember going to the prison rodeo. Can't you just see some of these 'gang bangers' riding a bull! LOL! You know if we went back to the 'chain gang' era maybe the criminals wouldn't say that doing the time is a piece of cake. Civil rights are for civil people. If you rob, rape, murder, molest or sell drugs you should be aware that you don't have any civil rights and that you will be expected to work your sentence off. I don't mean being cruel or uncaring of people but, these things can be done in a humane way and still get the point across. 'We The People' have got to remember that we ARE the government and should vote and act as such. Well, so much for my 2 cents worth. Since it's raining here I had a little time to spare and weigh in on this discussion. Opinions............you know what they say.
Have a GREAT week!
Sherry
Sherry obviously agrees! let us know what you think.
===================================================
I love this site... It is very user friendly. It has a lot of information and well monitored.
Catherine Livingston from Center Texas sent this last week. Catherine has a booth in the Center Antique Mall on the Square and has been busy putting some great antique listings in the site. Yall be sure to let Catherine you saw her ads when your in there!
COMMON SENSE
There is so much junk going on in the so-called news that it is hard to know where to start digesting it all.
The dude in Thailand who had sex with the boys. Ok, he's been on the run for awhile now and was finally caught when the computer gurus unscrambled his face in the images.
I understand! This is a bad guy who has sex with teen & preteen boys for fun and games and frankly I think some country should seriously consider cutting his dinger off.
What I want to know is...how come they can catch a criminal who dallies with little boys halfway across the planet and they can't catch the Nigerian scammers right here who email us each and every day asking for money?
I guess it is all a matter of priorities.
=============================================
The baby in the toilet
There is a lot of talk about the young woman who gave birth to a baby, left that baby in the handicapped stall in a South Carolina hospital toilet with a note on her chest telling the next person who happened along when the baby had last been fed and asking someone to take her in and raise her well.
WHAT IN THE HECK ARE WE THINKING?
Folks, if I was to leave a batch of kittens or puppies on the side of the road some group or organization would be on me like white on rice in a New York minute for doing this and yet we make all kinds of excuses for this girl who gave birth and left her infant in a toilet on the floor for others to take care of and the bleeding hearts are making all kinds of excuses for this woman.
Is there no SHAME left in our decaying culture? How come it is excusable to leave a crying baby in a toilet when it isn't excusable to give away the Iggy dog whom Ellen gave away to a little girl without consulting the doggy rescue service?
Ellen Degeneres couldn't keep her little dog, Iggy cause Iggy didn't get along with Ellen's cats. So, reasonably enough, Ellen passed Iggy on to a little girl who wanted and would love a pet.
The fly in the buttermilk was, Ellen had signed a contract with the rescue organization promising to make them aware of when, and if, she was going to transfer the dog to another person.
Well, geez Louise! Ellen gave the dog away to a little girl who wanted a dog.
The rescue organization came in and removed the dog, Iggy for violation of contractual agreement and Ellen broke down on national tv and sobbed because of it.
Ellen had a dog she couldn't keep. The little girl wanted an unwanted dog. Seems to me like a match made in Heaven until petty bureaucrats muddled it all up.
The sad thing is, there is as much, if not more, TV news time devoted to the dog as there is to the girl who left a HUMAN baby in the toilet in a South Carolina hospital.
Stray dogs should get to go to anyone who will feed and care for stray dogs, period.
The girl who gave birth to a human child and left it to rot should be spayed on national tv.
That girl, no matter her circumstances, no matter her education or her background, or if she had no 'father figure' should be made to think of her child lying on a cold, hard bathroom floor every day of her life.
WHICH BRINGS US TO THIS:
We are sending mixed messages to the youth of America here. On one had we make all kinds of excuses for 'unwanted pregnancies" and what ignorant trash do with the results of these births and on the other hand we give seemingly free reign to school systems in Maine who make it totally acceptable to give out birth control pills and patches to 11 year olds!
A middle school in Maine has made it perfectly legal to dispense birth control in the nurses office to little girls.
How about spanking their butts first? How about calling Mom & Dad and saying "Uh, we got a situation down here...your daughter wants to have sex and as far as we can determine she's oh, bout 11 or 12. Say! We have an idea! Ya'll come on down and let's have a talk, umkay?"
GIVING BIRTH CONTROL PILLS TO LITTLE GIRLS IS WRONG. It means we don't care anymore. It means we are unconcerned. It means we are way too busy living what we laughingly call life to know, or care, about what is going on in our daughters and son's lives.
YOU CAN STOP THIS CRAP!
Maine might do it. Other states might do it...but when it comes your turn to step up to the plate and argue for right......well, that's going to be up to you and you alone.
So....Ellen gave her dog away and now Iggy is up in the air. The infant in South Carolina is well-fed and happy and probably way better off than she would have been with her trashy, crack-head mother.
The little girls of that school in Maine are getting fed a dose of nasty in the form of birth control pills...and we watch the news and wait for something to come our way in Texas, Montana or Arizona and what in the world will we do when the time comes to make a choice between right and wrong?
I hope you read this and remember and when it comes time to stand in the gap for the right thing, you unflinchingly do that right thing.
Can I count on you? Write me back and let me know what you think about this, ok?
=====================================================
A Miracle in Michigan
Now, I know I make a lot of fun about Michigan because Tamara is from Michigan and, well, Michigan is an easy target, but the other day the Wrath Of God reigned down on Michigan and several other states in the form of severe weather, but what I want to talk about is a flat-out miracle, if there ever was one!
After the storms passed and when folks began to dig out of the rubble of homes, shops and businesses in that part of Michigan a couple had lost their baby, a 14 month old baby girl who was nowhere to be found.
Neither was this couple's home that they had built last year or their clothes, furniture, household items and anything else not tied down.
The main concern was that baby! Neighbors came and they searched and searched but to no avail until a neighbor heard a faint whimper. He shushed the people around him and homed in on the soft cry until he pin pointed the sound from beneath a mountain of debris.
Under thousands of pounds of storm damage they dug until they came to a mattress covering the baby girl who was none the worse for her ordeal, alive, safe...in the hands of God. The mattress had covered the child and made her safe until Mom & Dad could find her and folks, if that ain't the work of Almighty God, I have no idea what is!
So, we say a prayer today for all the victims of last weeks devastating storms and we get to say a prayer of Thanksgiving for a life touched by the Devine.
Thank you God for letting us know that our paltry fate is in your Great hands!
======================================================
How to Deal with Door to Door Salesmen
) Go to a second-hand store, buy a pair of men's used size 14-16 work boots2) Place them on your front porch, along with a copy of Guns & Ammo Magazine3) Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazine4) Leave a note on your door that reads:Hey Bubba, Big Jim, Duke and Slim,I went for more ammo. Back in an hour. Don't mess with the pit bulls -they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up real bad. Oh? You don't know what jaw sugar is? Well, pardner you have lived a sheltered life to say the least!
Jaw sugar is little kisses you get on the jaw. Old women give them, mothers bestow them on babies and children, your sister gives you one when you leave home, ladies give 'em to husbands out the door on the way to work.
A little sugar is always welcomed and appreciated. The most poignant sugar is when you are leaving loved ones and the day seems to stop magically as you load into the car and prepare to leave grandmaw or momma or someone loved and cherished.
Someone leans down and gives you the softest peck on the jaw and that kiss is a lifetime of love and wonderment. That little peck says "Goodbye, I love you and hurry home" better than any words will ever express and it don't matter who's looking or what's happening around you, for one long, slow moment you are at peace and the world has the potential to be bright and sweet when Momma or Grandmaw gives you a little jaw sugar.
The next time you hug and kiss someone you love, remember that life is a fleeting thing and we are but travelers upon this mortal coil and soon our lite fades away but the memories of old women giving jaw sugar, well....those memories keep us safe and sane in a sometimes wicked world.
===================================
TAKE BACK AMERICA!
Somewhere along the way the U.S. was stolen from us. The Constitution is ignored, the Bill of Rights seems to be a joke and the government we trust to secure our liberties and defend our nation has jerked us around until our necks are stringy.
Democrats? Sheesh! I wouldn't touch them with someone else’s voting finger! Republicans? Oh yeah...they were the folks who promised us a new moral revolution in this country, right? Republicans promised us integrity and honor back in the White House. Let me ask yall....do YOU feel like there is honor in the words of our administration?
We have had two things against Clinton....uh two things we can verbalize, and we seem to want to talk incessantly about, the oral sex with a woman he wasn’t married to, and then lying about that same oral sex in front of BOTH Congress and the people of the United States.
So, we turned to the Republican party to steer a course for the US into more moral waters and what happened? Folks, the Republicans are as money grubbing, morally bankrupt and sneaky as the Democrats...well, maybe that's going too far.....but dang, don't those folks in Washington look as if they belong on wanted posters?
So, who the heck will we vote for? YOU tell me who you like....you tell me who you want in office! If I was to put a gun to your head today and make you make a choice, what and whom, would that choice be?
Let me throw THIS into the mix.....I heard James Dobson is pulling out of the Republican camp.
Uh huh......NOW tell me what's on your mind! Yeah, I dare you to come out and be real about all this! I dare you to justify $3.00 a gallon gasoline & rampant illegal immigration and wait! I DOUBLE DOG DARE you, anyone....to tell me what the benefit there is in the LandToSea Treaty!
ralph@nutrader.com
www.Nutrader.com
Radio Show 347 215 8849
Office number 936 288 0832
Ok, here's your chance to tell me what good is coming from the so-called conservative, Christian, faith-based administration we have in office and more than that, what the heck are YOU going to do about all this voting business come next November when my son, Jess, is going to have to pack his ditty bag and deploy back to Iraq after he's already spent 18 months in that Hell-hole?
Am I PO'd? You bet I am and each and every one of you should be too! Our military has DONE IT'S JOB. THEY FOUGHT THE BAD GUYS AND WON.
They toppled Saddam's little screwy government. Tanks rolled into Baghdad. We WON, folks! Now Iraq needs to step up and make a government.
And the U.S.? Well, we need to give these guys and girls a ticker-tape parade on Broadway and all the fuss and bluster of a hero's welcome...HOME.
Either BEAT 'EM or LEAVE 'EM ALONE.
===========================================================
WOW......I BETTER CALM MY BUTT DOWN!
How>>>>>>>>>>by letting yall know about our business partners!
WHERE DO YOU FIND OUR BUSINESS PARTNERS???
Why, in the BUSINESS DIRECTORY @ NuTrader, of course!
Go to www.Nutrader.com and browse through the Business Directory.
